Do you feel uncomfortable when thinking about painful times in your life? Have you always viewed challenges as nothing but hindrances? Do you want to live a pain-free existence?
Pain is a universal experience. No creature on the planet is exempt from feeling it. It’s a biological mechanism that maintains balance in our system but many of us don’t see pain this way. Instead, we see it as an inconvenience and some kind of defect that needs to be fixed or cured.
When we avoid pain, we miss the deeper and enriching experience that on offer. Just as light cannot exist without the dark, the human experience is not complete without moments of sadness. Even though pain is unavoidable it is a great teacher and the impetus for our evolution in consciousness.
All we need to do is to transform our relationship with pain and keep our minds and hearts open to reap the wisdom from every painful experience that we endure. In this week’s post, I provide some insights on how we can cope with pain based on spiritual scriptures and expertise of exemplars. I also list down the top five lessons that we can glean from pain if we keep our hearts and mind open.
