When Good is Good Enough
Friday Jul 17, 2020
Friday Jul 17, 2020
For perfectionists, "good enough" is the enemy of excellence. This all-or-nothing thinking traps them in a state of dissatisfaction and a sense that they're constantly chasing a moving target.
However, there's a big difference between being inspired to be our best selves, and being driven by a need to win at all costs. The latter is toxic and destructive.
If you’re someone who is results-driven, and motivated to work to a high level, recognizing when good is good enough is essential to your success and your self-worth. In this post, I’ve described five occasions to pull back.

Most people associate the word power with having a lot of money, fame, influence and beauty. But according to my guest, Liz Lewinson, true power comes from within. It’s an inner power that helps us lead a life of peace, joy and tranquility.
Liz Lewinson is a long-time practitioner and teacher of meditation. Her books on Amazon are "The Power of the Loving Man," "Women, Meditation, and Power," and the award-winning biography, "American Buddhist Rebel." She is Vice President of The Frederick P. Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism.
During our conversation, Liz and I cover the following topics:
- What is inner power and how do we access it
- How can we avoid the common obstacles in connecting with our power
- The different types of power men and women possess based on their physiology
- How to develop a daily ritual of meditation and mindfulness to access our power

What the Law of Attraction Taught Me About Manifesting Love
Friday Jul 10, 2020
Friday Jul 10, 2020
The Law of Attraction simply states that you attract whatever you focus on. The people who buy into it believe that by simply thinking about their hopes for romantic love, they’ll manifest it.
While there is truth to this timeless principle, this law cannot be used as a shortcut or a quick-fix. When it comes to relationships, there are hidden beliefs and patterns that can have a significant impact on your choices and behavior in intimate connections.
When I understood this and did the inner work it became increasingly evident that there’s an established order to the universe that favors those who are willing to look deeper. I outline four things the law of attraction taught me about manifesting love and how you can use it in your life.

How to Know Your True Self
Friday Jul 03, 2020
Friday Jul 03, 2020
When it comes to our identity, most of us define ourselves based on conventional societal labels based on education, jobs, relationships, possessions, appearance, race, culture, religion, etc.
While knowing who we are, on a superficial level, is necessary to fulfill daily responsibilities, it doesn’t represent the essence of our true being. Rejecting social roles that don’t feel true to us allows our true self to inform the choices we make, bringing us to a place of success and peace.
“Being true to yourself” is not just a cliché. It’s a practice and a state of awareness we need to cultivate and evolve actively. This week, I offer five fundamental steps that will help you get started in this process of self-discovery.
![[Interview] Using Storytelling to Tap into Our Potential and to Make a Difference (feat. Scotty Crowe)](https://pbcdn1.podbean.com/imglogo/ep-logo/pbblog2385498/scotty_podcast_60npt_300x300.png)

We’re all storytellers. whether we realize it or not. We create narratives in our minds about who we are, why things happen the way we do and where we’re going. This ability gives us the responsibility to tell stories that are meaningful and beneficial to ourselves and others.
Scotty Crowe, my guest today has been helping people do just that through his work in education and social justice. Scotty is an actor, writer, host, and filmmaker. He first started working in entertainment as John Mayer’s tour manager and has spent much of the last decade working with young people, specifically around writing their narrative and discovering their voice. He believes deeply in the power of storytelling, the joy of self-expression, and the importance of inclusion.
During our conversation, Scotty and I discuss about the different ways we can use our ability to tell stories including:
- Tapping into our inner potential.
- Expressing our creativity and talents.
- Using it to advocate for the causes that are important to us.

Why it’s Important to Talk About Privilege and How it Impacts Us
Friday Jun 26, 2020
Friday Jun 26, 2020
A conversation about privilege is not an easy one for many. In fact, it makes a lot of people defensive. But being asked to “check your privilege” shouldn’t make you feel guilty or minimize the hardships you face in other areas of your life.
Instead, it is a gentle nudge to understand the plight of marginalized groups and the struggles that they face. We need to see it as an opportunity to educate ourselves and bear witness to the harsh realities of those who experience the world differently.
Grappling with the realities of privilege is an ongoing effort. This week. I address how I came to grips with the privileges I have (and don’t have) and how it made me realize the importance of understanding where each of us stand on the privilege ladder.

How to Develop Habits that Lead to Success
Friday Jun 19, 2020
Friday Jun 19, 2020
Humans are creatures of habit. We seek comfort in rituals that free us to focus on less predictable things. Routine gives us a feeling of security and control over our environments.
But not all habits are created equal. The right ones boost our productivity and efficiency. With enough focused repetition, we can master any skill. Our habits are an accurate predictor of future success.
Instead of falling into the traps of following conventions and refusing to change habits that aren’t good for us, we can become conscious of them. In this episode, I’ve outlined five steps that help you develop habits that lead to success on your own terms.

6 Types of Toxic People Who Drain Your Energy
Friday Jun 12, 2020
Friday Jun 12, 2020
We all have to deal with toxic people in our lives. They can’t be entirely avoided, whether they be a boss, parent, or coworker. While nothing is ever ideal and compromise is needed, we need to be clear about how much we’re willing to put up with.
While toxic people should not be demonized (they obviously need help to change their unhealthy behavioral patterns), it’s important to distance yourself from them to maintain your own sanity. Engaging with their neuroses will take you down to their levels of thinking and being.
In this episode, I describe the key characteristics of five types of toxic people who drain your energy, who you should keep an eye out for and avoid at all costs.

Why Seeing From a Higher Perspective is Essential
Friday Jun 05, 2020
Friday Jun 05, 2020
Taking the long view is especially difficult in these times when we’re drowning in information. We’re so distracted by immediate news, global trends, and what we see in the present moment. We lose our ability to see things from a higher perspective.
To become a superior strategist in life, you have to break away from herd mentality and develop a long-term approach. As humans, we have the gift of seeing further into the future and envisioning possibilities, unlike animals who only react to what’s happening in the now.
Instead of waiting to connect the dots later, we can give ourselves an expanded view in the current moment. In this episode, I outline three steps to help you gain that perspective.
